Screening in collaboration with Light Cone (Paris):
LE CINÉASTE AU TRAVAIL : AUTOPORTRAITS

In the presence of Muriel Tinel-Temple.

To coincide with the publication of her book FILMMAKER AT WORK: SELF-PORTRAITS (by the Hermann publishing house), the author will present a selection of films that explore the different facets of the self-portrait.

A self-portrait is not only a biographical account that puts forward the individual, but also a kind of work-in-progress in which the artist represents him- or herself at a given instant of the process.

Endlessly questioning his or her form of expression, the self-portraitist filmmaker reinvents, manipulates, experiments with the film medium as material. The filmmaker plays with changes of format, works directly with the film frame (celluloid or pixel), constructs new filming tools or reinterprets the foundations of the moving image using composition, progression, texture and tonality.
